A luxurious dinner staple. Perfectly seared, juicy ribeye steak slices served over rich, velvety garlic mashed potatoes, finished with a savory herb gravy drizzle.
Ingredients for Garlic Butter Steak & Mash
- 250g premium beef ribeye or sirloin
- 2 large Yukon Gold potatoes
- 2 tbsp unsalted butter
- 3 cloves garlic, minced
- 1/4 cup heavy cream
- 1/4 cup rich beef broth (for gravy)
- Fresh parsley & thyme, finely chopped
Step-by-Step Cooking Instructions
- Peel and dice the potatoes, then boil them in salted water until fork-tender (about 15 minutes). Drain well.
- Mash the hot potatoes thoroughly with 1 tbsp of butter, minced garlic, heavy cream, salt, and pepper until perfectly smooth and velvety.
- Pat the steak dry with paper towels and season generously with coarse salt and cracked black pepper on both sides.
- Heat a cast-iron skillet over high heat until smoking, add a splash of oil, and sear the steak for 2-3 minutes per side for medium-rare.
- In the final minute of cooking, drop in the remaining butter and fresh herbs, basting the melted butter continuously over the steak. Remove and let it rest for 5 minutes.
- In the same skillet, whisk the beef broth with the remaining pan juices over medium heat to create a glossy gravy. Slice the steak diagonally, place it next to a generous scoop of mashed potatoes, drizzle with the gravy, and garnish with fresh parsley.
